Yuji Tachiki (立木勇次, Tachiki Yūji) is a supporting character in BNA: Brand New Animal. He is an investigator of the Anima City Police. He is also a Great Dane Beastman.
Appearance[]
In his human form, he has a light tan complexion, large, dark gray mustache, and thick eyebrows. He wears a gray suit, a white collared shirt, mint turquoise tie, light olive overcoat, and a purple-gray newsboy cap.
In his dog form, he has dark gray fur, a black nose, big floppy ears, and a droopy snout. He still wears the same outfit.
Personality[]
He is an old-fashioned policeman who is calm, obsessive, and learns on foot. Being a beastman, Yuji takes his work seriously enough.

Episode 2/Rabbit Town[]
Following the terrorism incident, the cops arrive at the scene and find the three festival terrorists, Sato, Tanaka, and Yamada, bound with a note. Yuji sighs realizing Shirou arrived at the scene before them. He also investigates Gram Grandma's human trafficking case but is still one step behind Shirou. During the night of the trafficking incident, Yuji and the police arrive after the altercation is over and thank Shirou for intervening before it was too late. Shirou tells the Yuji it was a request from the Mayor herself. Concerned for the children, Michiru returns to the scene and the officer says they will be taken care of at an orphanage in the city.
Episode 3/Rhino Melancholy[]
Shiro and Michiru, at the request of mayor Rose, go to Sylvasta Farmaceuticals to find a possible bomb. Upon arrival, they split up, and Ogami meets Yuji Tachiki along with a police officer, and they defuse the bomb. Having saved Michiru, Ogami together with it runs to the place of explosion of a new bomb. There they meet Yuji and Director Yaba. After proving that Yaba is an accomplice to the crime, inspector Tachiki confirms this by suggesting that the Director step aside for a conversation. However, Yaba and Mimura escape. The investigator begins to pursue Mimura and on the roof, along with the police, arrests Him. Ogami saves Michiru, who jumped off the edge of the building, but is severely injured, so the officer offers to help. Shiro refuses, saying that he is all right. Surprised, the investigator says "Yare, yare.." and together with the police takes Yaba and Mimura to the Department.
Episode 8-9/The Mole Rats Speaks – Human Scapegoat[]
On this day, the preacher of the order of Ginro comes to the police Department to meet Yaba. Believing that the preacher has good intentions, Tachiki lets him go. Subsequently, Yaba escapes, turning into a mad beastman because of a wild beastman. However, Yuji and the police Department were unable to help resolve the incident in any way. While investigating this case, inspector Yuji meets Ogami, and together they examine Yaba's detention cell. Tachiki says that before the incident, Boris cliff from the Ginro sect came to the police. It turns out that because of all these problems, Yuji almost every day had to write an explanation.
Episode 10/Rabid Wolf[]
The police receive a signal about an attack on a medical center. Tachiki and police arrive at the scene. According to Alan Silvasta, Ogami broke the equipment, which the investigator is very surprised. Shiro refuses to give up and jumps out of the window of the center, after which Yuji goes after him in pursuit.
Episode 11-12/A Beastly Feast – Anima-City[]
Ogami, whatever happens, must stop the festival, but Yuji intercepts him, convincing him to go with him. The investigator doesn't believe Shiro's words. At this point, Silvasta's aigel machine appear and surround Tachiki and police, and Ogami escapes. Soon, Giuliano Flip arrives to help, along with his "The Family". Etymology[]
Etymology
- Tachiki (立木) means standing tree in Japanese. It is likely a reference to Yuji's firm beliefs on justice and his desire to seek the truth.
- Yuji (勇次) is a common masculine name. 勇 is the kanji for courage, and the kanji 次 means that Tachiki rarely shows these qualities, but at the right time, He is ready to do it no matter what.
