Yamada is a minor character in BNA: Brand New Animal, appearing in episodes one and two. He is a Deer Beastman.

Appearance[]

In his beastman form, Yamada appears as a white-tail deer. His forearms and hands' fur are pale, as is most of his head barring darker fur patches on the top of his head and snout, and the back of his neck. He wears a black eye patch over his left eye, as well as a shirt with the sleeves partially rolled up, a tactical vest, a holster on his left hip, as well as a pair of pants and shoes and two black gloves. Yamada's human form is never shown.

Personality[]

Little is known about Yamada or his cohorts, aside from their willingness to commit crimes if paid to do so. He seems to be the most lax of the three, mockingly pointing out Sato's inability to carry out his "brilliant plan."[1]

Plot[]

Background[]

He, alongside Sato and Tanaka, were hired to bomb the festival at Anima City, presumably by Sylvasta Pharmaceuticals as part of the company's head's plan to mar the human-beastman relations.[2]

BNA: Brand New Animal[]

After being confronted by Shirou Ogami for planting the bomb that disrupted the festival, Sato pounds on the back of a nearby van, signaling Yamada and Tanaka to provide back-up. Wielding a rifle, Yamada fires on Shirou, but is unable to hit the agile wolf. Gaining the upper hand, Shirou is able to grab the gun from Yamada, flipping him and stomping his head into the ground in the process. Yamada eventually regains his footing and charges Shirou, attempting to impale him on his antlers, but is grabbed and, despite his pleas, has his antlers torn off, with Shirou declaring Yamada has “abandoned his pride as a Beastman.” After defeating Tanaka, the lion is thrown at Yamada, rendering him unconscious.

In the opening of Rabbit Town, we see that Shirou had tied Yamada up (alongside Sato and Tanaka,) with a note taped to them identifying them as the bombers who ruined the festival. Their unconscious bodies are discovered by Yuji Tachiki.[3]

Trivia[]

  • For several frames after Shirou Ogami grabs his gun, the black glove on Yamada's left hand disappears, before reappearing moments later.[1]
