Gem Horner (ジェム・ホーナー, Jemu Hōnā) is a main character in the BNA: Brand New Animal series. He is the husband of of Melissa Horner and the couple run the Beastman Co-op. He is a cockerel Beastman.
Appearance[]
In his human form, he has fair skin and red hair is slightly disheveled and swept to the left side, black pupils, and red mustache and beard. He wears a white collared shirt with a hunter green tie, red-framed glasses, a mustard yellow v-cut sweater, blue-gray trousers, and brown loafers.
In his rooster form, his red hair turns into a comb and his beard turns into a wattle. He grows a yellow beak and trades his shoes for yellow chicken feet. He keeps his glasses, trousers, and shirt, though his cardigan loses its sleeves.
Personality[]
Gem has an affable, caring, and friendly personality. He welcomes Michiru Kagemori with open arms and helps her acclimate to living in Anima City.
He may accidentally come off as impolite at times, but he means no harm or ill intention.
History[]
Episode 2/Rabbit Town[]
Gem welcomes Michiru into their home. He uses a test strip and confirms that she is a Beastman. When Michiru repeatedly affirms that she is human, he mistakenly suggests she see a psychiatrist, which angers Michiru further. They later allow her to stay in a room they give her.
Later, Gem teaches Michiru the history of Ginrou through a picture book he wrote. He also perches on the rooftop every morning to crow.
Special Abilities[]
- Voice Amplification: Gem is able to loudly amplify his voice, usually crowing in the morning.
